The Role of Information Technology in School Change

Technology can serve to either reinforce and automate the factory model of schooling or facilitate its transformation. It goes without saying that we hope to see the latter.

The aim of technology infusion should be to assist and accelerate efforts to make inquiry and improvement an integral part of the work of schooling. The goal is for reflection, professional growth, and organizational development to become as routine in each teacher’s job as taking roll and making assignments. We'll know we are well on the way when every employee sees how his/her work connects to shared goals and how the organization’s effectiveness contributes to his/her individual efforts.
